Wendell's Story
Chef Wendell Brewster's love for cooking started many years ago, having worked in multiple arenas throughout the food service industry. While working in Texas for a number of years in catering and on college and university campuses, his love for food and the customer experience grew along with his clientele and expertise in the field.

Upon moving back to Mississippi, he started Jerk City Grille, LLC. The Grille has been Wendell's place to serve his take on Caribbean food with a Southern twist. It's unique, yet approachable, and enjoyed by all types of palettes, with customers driving all the way from Madison, MS on a regular basis to dine with him for lunch.

Jackson residents suffer from a lack of dining options in the inner city, with seafood restaurants being one of the gaps that needed filling. From that, Wendell created Unk's Fish Shack as a means to provide Jacksonians with high quality dining options right in their community.

Following the need for a different take on catering menu options, Chef Wendell decided to take up catering, as well. As part of catering, customers can enjoy a mix of both Jerk City Grille's menu items and Unk's Fish Shack!
